Serene

Serene when I want to think
Serene when I listen to nature
Serene when I could be on my own
When everything gets hectic
I go to my serene place
A place which calms me down
A place where the wind whispers
A place where I can breathe again

Cappadocia

Cappadocia – one of the most fascinating places I’ve been to. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw this geological oddity of honeycombed hills and towering boulders of otherworldly beauty. Its fantastical topography is matched by the human history. It lies in central Anatolia, in the heartland of what is now Turkey. People have long utilised the region’s soft stone, seeking shelter underground and leaving the countryside scattered with fascinating troglodyte-style architecture.

Starlight

timthumb.php

Starlight, star bright, I wish I may, I wish I might
Find my own knight, he’s there to fight for my plight
I’d like to go to places far away, roving great distances
Riding buses, aeroplanes, ships, jeepneys and cruises

Over the hills, to the depths of the seas and sandy shores
Learning my lessons, writing my memoirs, being outdoors
Acquiring new things, seeing the world, adventures galore
Understanding about them, they’re all there in a brochure

Meeting you and the others, oh what fun it would be
Dancing the night away, footloose and fancy free
Away from this tumultuous and rotten world with flees
As long as I don’t transgress and make you displease

Enable to scramble over the wall to the summit ridge
I’ve got my suitcase ready, don’t care about the mileage
Swelling with smugness in this upbeat biosphere
The atmosphere has thicken from the exosphere

Having the key to your heart, be as charming as can be
I always see the world as somewhat peachy or pearly
Starlight, star bright, these are some of my wishes
Hope they come true and I’d be happy, such a buzz

Sonnet 141: In faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes by William Shakespeare

In faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes,
For they in thee a thousand errors note;
But ’tis my heart that loves what they despise,
Who in despite of view is pleased to dote.
Nor are mine cars with thy tongue’s tune delighted,
Nor tender feeling to base touches prone,
Nor taste, nor smell, desire to be invited
To any sensual feast with thee alone;
But my five wits, nor my five senses can
Dissuade one foolish heart from serving thee,
Who leaves unswayed the likeness of a man,
Thy proud heart’s slave and vassal wretch to be.
Only my plague thus far I count my gain,
That she that makes me sin awards me pain.

The Twelve Apostles
The Great Ocean Road
Victoria, Australia
Taken during travels, 1995
by Patrick Jennings

I left the Philippines many moons ago
And since then I’ve been venturing out
New frontiers, new challenges
Switzerland – where I saw the first snow
Where I was able to get a job at the United Nations
Where my heart was broken for the first time
Germany – where I met Him Indoors in the lab
Action, reaction, chemistry in motion
First time to camp in a one-man tent
America – ah Hollywood and Rodeo Drive
Went to work on my bike, loved it
Him Indoors came for a visit
Asked me to marry him and I said yes
Great Britain – got married there
Worked at Boots the Chemist
In their Research, doing Statistics
And back to Germany – had HRH the son
Our pride and joy and we’re still here
25 years later and I settling down well

Beach Sand
by Raymond A. Foss

Maybe it is the memories
the change of pace that brings us there
the sense of vacation
maybe the smell of the place
the sights of the gulls, the dunes, the grasses
but oh it is the feel of it,
the crunch and slide of it
the feeling of beach sand
so different from dirt, soil, loam
no, not earthy, moist, rich,
but oh so granular and gritty
even when wet,
moveable paper spreading under toes
sliding beneath the soles
smoothing my skin
clearing my mind
unburdening me of the rest
drawing me to the tactile, the feel
of beach sand

perfect day

the oasis of serenity
when everything’s at peace
when I can breathe again
the joy of being here
the freedom I feel
of love and happiness

Curiosity – Pic and a Word Challenge #5

curiosity-quotes-images-5-cd7d458c

curiosity has its own reason for existing
we shouldn’t stop questioning
we shouldn’t stop being interested
we shouldn’t stop finding something out
we should be glad that we are all different
and each one has a different thing to offer
we should be glad that we don’t know everything
there’s always something we want to know
there’s always someone who will tell us
there are books, references, maps to help us
there are schools, colleges, universities
and other sorts of learning facilities
the world is our oyster, let’s find out more
let’s make it a wonderful place to live
let’s all be part of this interesting place

Pacific Coast Highway
Near Santa Cruz

by Patrick Jennings

playing in the rain
always a welcome picture
such uplifting feel
recollections of childhood
more fun in the Philippines

as the sun comes down
courtship song in the evening
love is in the air
wondering where’s the sun now
as lovers hold hands there, too

entangled branches
as the sun sparkles through them
such a spectacle to see
the splendour that awaits us
enchanting as they blossom

summer morning
the flower’s scent is heaven
serene feeling all over
trying to reach the sky
joy of being here

cycling on this day
meadow where corn are growing
enchanting for me
enjoyed singing with the birds
as my hair was blown by breeze

drizzling onto me
a curtain of white water
in nonchalant way

a force of nature
both beautiful and brutal
charming waterfall

every day the same
the sun rises and then sets
never-ending

by silvery moon
I sing my heart to you
eloquence so soft
seeking the steam of my soul
bliss, star of my garden

melody from heart
no cloud in sky to be seen
watch birds fly somewhere
till dawn when Nature smiles
pursuing your affection

Road of my life wasn’t smooth sailing
Things around the world are baffling
I’ve gone through a lot of crisis
I have to prove my braveness
I was given severe trouncing
Life could be tough and gruelling
Experienced some force of nature
Like fire, typhoon and earthquakes
I had to fight to live and survive
That’s probably how I thrive
Never mind the irony of the situation
I’m fully sympathetic to the plight of others
I understand what they were going through
I comprehend their issues on crossing borders
Thanks to my experience, I’ve got deep insight
