thankful-with-or-without-feeling

Before the year ends, allow me to thank everyone who made me smile, cry, proud, love, like, and all other emotions this year. Thank you all!

Thank you Him Indoors for being here, no matter what. For growing some flowers for me, for cooking my favourite food, adobo and rice, for making me laugh with your witty jokes and for keeping me on my toes. Thanks for all the holidays we’ve been this year – India, Philippines, Sicily, Malta, UK, Singapore – the memories we share, the fights we’ve had on silly things, the make-up straight away and of course, for the love we give each other.

Thank you HRH the son for being who you are – our pride and joy! Thanks for finishing your Masters this year – Master in Psychology from a prestigious university. Thanks for being a good son, who skypes us every Sunday, who Whatsapp us with some photos of Dr. Who convention, of what you cooked for your Christmas dinner, etc. Thanks for introducing us your beautiful K who we dearly love, too. Thanks for setting up a new home with her and for letting us know about the wedding plans for next year. Really looking forward to it.

Thank you Mommy for being our Mom – still rocking at 78, still beautiful. Thanks for being healthy, well, at least, for being in control of your diabetes, for looking after yourself and for keeping yourself fit by walking everyday. Thanks for being there when I ring, for telling me your day to day activities, what you did, where you’ve been with your friends, for reading some books, keeping your mind active. Thanks for your European tour this year, we always have London! We love you.

Thank you sister and husband from Canada, for skyping once a week, for your news, for your sports commentating, for planning to come to HRH the son and his beautiful K’s wedding next year and for planning our trip to London afterwards.

Thank you big brother and family in the Philippines. Big brother is still on his ship going around the world as a Chief Engineer and the family living next to my Mom’s. Thanks for the video calls from time to time, thanks for updating us about your lives. Good luck.

Thank you little brother and family in the UK. Thanks for being our hosts when we were there. Thanks for cooking sisig, sushi, leche flan for father-in-law’s 80th birthday party. Thank you Princess Zoe for making us smile, and of course, the two boys (they’re men, now) for sharing your lives with us. All the best for your future.

Thank you friends for our coffee mornings, Japanese lunch, shopping spree till we drop, our chitchats about everyday lives, our walks from one village to the next, our phone calls. Thank you to all my online friends, too. Thanks for sharing us your lives with the posts you shared, for liking, commenting, etc.

Thank you blogging community. Thanks for making me happy, thanks for sharing me your posts, thanks for letting me read fiction, non fiction, musings, book reviews, beautiful photos, weird ones, flowers, fun photos, etc.

Thank you gym for making me fit, for being there when I want to exercise, cross-train, zumba, Latin dance, body balance, have tea and talk with some ladies there, too.

Thank you classical music, good movies, lots of books, concerts, musicals, plays, museums, parks, mountains, lakes, new and old places, sunny weather, the spring, autumn and our mild winter.

Happy New Year everyone!

Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille December 2nd 2015

A lovely afternoon and we are walking up the mountain. The wind brushes my hair, the scents of the flowers in the air and we can hear birds singing. A chill creeps into the air, but just a nip to let us know a new season is at hand.

all over the hill
the scent of blooming bluebell
blue wild hyacinth

swaying with the wind

swaying with the wind
soon the hill will be aflame
riot of gold and red

To Autumn
by William Blake

O Autumn, laden with fruit, and stain’d
With the blood of the grape, pass not, but sit
Beneath my shady roof; there thou may’st rest,
And tune thy jolly voice to my fresh pipe,
And all the daughters of the year shall dance!
Sing now the lusty song of fruits and flowers.

‘The narrow bud opens her beauties to
The sun, and love runs in her thrilling veins;
Blossoms hang round the brows of Morning, and
Flourish down the bright cheek of modest Eve,
Till clust’ring Summer breaks forth into singing,
And feather’d clouds strew flowers round her head.

‘The spirits of the air live in the smells
Of fruit; and Joy, with pinions light, roves round
The gardens, or sits singing in the trees.’
Thus sang the jolly Autumn as he sat,
Then rose, girded himself, and o’er the bleak
Hills fled from our sight; but left his golden load.
