For: WEDNESDAY WATERS
Samantha, the witch and her pet Octopus
Such a pair of goodness gracious
She calls her Tentacles, Tent for short
When being called, Tent would snort
Tent can balance herself on bricks or gravels
And will resort to all sorts of battles
She catches everything with her mouth
She’s such a blabbermouth
A curious amalgam of trash and bits
One can say she’s such a nitwit
Nothing can stop her, she’s happy
When she goes to her eating spree
Samantha gets on with her neighbours
Even though she’s such a raving bonkers
Open doors, no fence, no notices
They like her blitheness and blondness
But still there’s a vacant lot near her
That’s something no one can answer
No one wants to move, she wonders why
“Oh well, it’s just me and Tent, “ she sighs
We’ve been to Tenerife ten years ago. Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, off West Africa, is dominated by Mt. Teide, which rises 7,500m above the ocean floor and is among the world’s largest volcanoes. We tried to climb up there but it was hard work. Him Indoors and HRH the son kept pushing me to carry on, and in my own time, was able to climb up the mountain. We also went whale watching and with luck, we saw some whales in the open sea. Still, Tenerife may be best known for its huge pre-Lent Carnival, as well as its beaches (with sands from yellow to black) and busy, upscale resorts, including Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas. We had a great time visiting Tenerife.

Our dinner this evening – home-made fish and chip with peas! It was delicious. We also had a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc with it. We bought a filet of fish this morning. Here’s how we did it: cut the fish to cubes, taking the bones out. Prepare three dishes of flour, eggs and bread crumbs. Add salt and pepper and some herbs. First, put them in the flour, then the eggs and finally the bread crumbs. Leave them for a while. Meanwhile, peal and cut the potatoes into strips. Parboil them for 5 minutes, before putting in the chip pan. Fry the fish and boil the peas. Enjoy!
