Realities of Life

She would have never thought that life would turn out like this. Growing up as one of the rich kids she always thought that being poor was a life-choice, that poor people were just lazy or uneducated and that this would be the reason for them to end up on the streets. Now she knew better. Being poor was not a choice. Everything could change in a heartbeat.

She fell in love. As soon as she saw him, she knew he was the answer to her dreams. The only man who could make her happy. Still, people were intrigue as to why she chose him – he’s not rich, a working student from a single family. His mother brought him up. And her parents paid everything to have the wedding bells. After that, they were basically on their own.

Ten years later, with a husband who was just made redundant and two small children, she has to make ends meet. Walking at the centre of her avenue and looking at the different shops, she wished there would be some change left after she bought their food. She wanted to buy a Christmas tree for the family. She imagined the children’s faces when they see the Christmas tree. That it would be like magic to them, especially if there were presents underneath the tree. But that would mean she has to work overtime and probably miss paying some bills. She used to be a carefree rich girl, now she’s a poor working woman making ends meet.

This is my Life

Daily Prompt – If you could read a book containing all that has happened and will ever happen in your life, would you? If you choose to read it, you must read it cover to cover.

Thanks for the great idea, Tom!

Yes, why not? and I’d read it from cover to cover. I love reading books, all sorts of books. They always give me a sense of adventure and I’m sure I’ll enjoy reading about my life.

“Life is a journey, not a destination”
We’re always on our way until it’s done
I sing this quote with delight
For we all have to fight our plight
For my life is designed to shine
We can combine ways to outshine
When I was first new to this world
I uncurled, twirled and whirled
My parents were joyful for they knew
I’ll go a long way to grew and flew
That I will win, no matter what
Always following my heart and gut
They gave me this secured shelter
My questions they always answer
Of course, love and compassion
Were always there as well as fun
They dedicated their lives on me
As I go in my life journey spree
And I in turn, dedicated mine to them
And from my heart and soul, this poem

– flashuser.net

I was born as the eldest daughter in a family
I looked after my siblings and they were three
My Mum taught me how to market
How to feed the family within a budget
That’s probably how I get the love of shopping spree

As a student I was diligent and ambitious
With fellow students sometimes we’re boisterous
With dedication, I’ve got my degree
Moved to Europe, I want to be free
Got some Masters on Linguistics and Business

Chemistry in motion, met Him Indoors in a lab
Action and reaction, fell in love and reached our sky lab
Being a wife was fun, I thought
Even though sometimes we fought
It’s quite exciting, who says being married was such a drab?

After seven years, HRH the son was born, I’m Mum at last
I nurture him, looked after him and didn’t mind being typecast
Eighteen years later, he left the nest
To university to find his own quest
His first day of school, karate, piano lessons and time flew so fast

I love being a Business English trainer to some companies
To sales people, human resources and some became my buddies
As a freelancer I can say yes or no to a contract
I don’t have a boss and I can’t be sacked
I can still have my free time, hobbies and meet my friends with ease

20151112_110537

One more day to illuminate
Me on the priorities of life
I don’t want to be a dead weight
And I don’t want any strife

One more day to storm
The challenges and hindrances
I’m sure I could still perform
What’s all this fuzz?

One more day to pool
Resources for the common good
I don’t want to be cruel
With the frosty weather I withstood

One more day to create
Significant impact on you
I need you, I tell it straight
Before I say adieu

One more day to haunt
Me with the scenes of our lives
I have no wealth to flaunt
We’ll see each in our afterlives

One more day to need
One last kiss before I’m lifeless
My very last good deed
Before I spin the axis

One more day to pay
The price of my sins
There must be some way
To play the violins

As a friend, enemy, depending on my goals
Life is wonderful, I’d say
So my day is never grey
Perhaps I’d think of other courses to enroll

Share Your World – 2015 Week #47

In your native language which letter or character describes you best? Why?
When I’m back in the Philippines, people have often referred to me as “mabilis” or “hagibis” (fast). I don’t know why, but perhaps I’ve lost this “take it easy” attitude when I left my country. I guess when I’m there, I want things to happen, and not just wait for things to happen. Most of the time, I’m just there for a couple of weeks, so basically I’ve already organised what I wanted to do, people to see and places to visit. Otherwise, I won’t be able to do what I wanted to do if I just rely on others.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Shopping till I drop, mostly clothes, shoes and bags. I can never have enough stuff, there’s always one or two that I find so irresistible to buy.
Do you prefer exercising your mind or your body? How frequently do you do either?
Ideally, both. In reality, I wish I have more time to exercise my body, i.e. go to the gym or go for a walk. As for exercising the mind, I read a lot, play scrabble and write my blogs. The fiction challenges keep me on my toes and the photo challenges, too. I need to take lots of photos or get them from my archive.
List at least 5 things that makes you laugh.
Him Indoors and HRH the son make me laugh – their dry humour are to die for! Watching some TV shows like Big Bang Theory and Have I Got News for You are good, too. And sometimes, when people tell jokes or the situations are funny – they make me laugh, as well.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
We had the first snowflakes for the season yesterday. Winter is here!
Looking forward to a normal week coming up, no stress, meeting friends, being with Him Indoors.
Have a lovely week everyone!

Mawkish Sentimentality

Aliens_vs._Predator-Xbox_360Screenshots16365AVP-Global-Print-4

More than any other literary form, science fiction courts obsolescence. I thought it’s the other way around. That sometimes we can relate what’s happening in the real world to some science fiction stories. Like that one that I have just read. In there they allowed a lot of aliens come to their planet due to their mawkish sentimentality. They were not able to control them, instead the aliens gained strength and power that they end up ruling their planet. Like what’s happening in our real world when too many people cross the borders… but shall we close the borders?

Hatred Picture It & Write and Wordle #74

cactus-coffee

I’m not exaggerating – it’s pure twenty-three in my life! Madness, madness, madness! Like being pricked by the needles of a cactus, it hurts! But even to my lowest ebb, I wouldn’t have scorned to stoop to such tactic – that is, to say sorry to him. Oh no, it was his fault and he should have listened to me, instead of doing that. Now, we couldn’t turned back from this petrous situation. The relationship is so fragile, he might as well offer me a bunch of lillies.
