As The Trees Sway

PHOTO PROMPT- © Rochelle Wisoff-Fields

As the trees sway, I felt that weird shifting shoots and a feathery light object grazed my skin. I’ve seen some sparks in that scarlet sky. Did I just hear some thunder? Before I get wet, I came in and closed the door and looked out our kitchen window. I heard the door creaked, it needed oiling. Anyway, there was no doubt that something or someone was out there, probably lost or hiding in a hole. Oh, Peter why did you leave me alone in this forsaken place? The aliens are coming to get me, I’m sure.

Empyreal Blue Sky

This week’s photo prompt is provided by, Louise, author of the blog, “The Storyteller’s Abode.” Thank you Louise!

In the empyreal blue sky, I’m hoping I can track your last movement. Like a bloodcrow eager to find some treasure, I’m as fanatic as my feet allow. Perhaps I’d be able to reach your spirit in this quaint town. From my research, I read that your veins run in this part of town. Forget the apathy of some people, I’m hopeful for some aperture where I can throw myself in. You could say it’s an obsession, I’d say that I’m just curious like any admirer of a famous person. I dread the time when I have to stop all these and just accept the fact that you’ll never come back.

Between the Shadow and the Soul

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “Philosophy in Warm Weather” by Jane Kenyon: sunny, clumsy, wasp, molecules, whirl, begrudge, spider, poppy, shouts, crow, alarm, pulling

“I love you as certain dark things
Are to be loved in secret
Between the shadow and the soul”
From a poppy seed to certain flings
Nothing to whirl and have that strut
On both mind and body it takes its toll

I stand fending off the raven and crow
The candle with cinnamon and orange
Colourful buttons forming a heart
Pulling me with such alarming glow
Clumsy molecules but what a challenge
I shout in my heart that you’re also a part

Love soars from earth to infinity
For love of love, or heart’s solitude
Who cry for shadows and cannot tell
Begrudge I come with a plea
Never a sunny day for a feud
Tried to stifle the thoughts and quell

She Used To Have Everything

She was putting up the ornaments. Some of them they’d bought together back then. Most of the ones they purchased in that little shop in that little lane were long gone. So was he. The tree used to be bigger back then, but so was the house she shared with him and the kids. The kids… They would be here soon. Carefully she picked another ornament, making sure she wouldn’t drop it.

Please continue…

No, she wouldn’t drop anything anymore. She blinked and a tear fell from her right eye. She used to have a basket full of ripe fruit and vegetables, a nest full of eggs and birds, a house with a garden, a husband and two perfect kids – she used to have everything. She thought she had reached the stars but because she wasn’t clever, they were all taken out of her hand. One mistake, one passion for pump flesh, someone younger, who by the way, didn’t stay with her long – and she lost everything. How she wish she has another chance, to make amends. She has seen her errors and now she wants to go back to where she was.

Remembering Dad on his birthday

The sky’s blue, such a lovely day
I looked at the guardian angel
Standing on top of your grave
I light a candle and thought of you
16 years had passed and still we miss you
Your children and grandchildren have all grew
Dogs bark, chicken cackle, cows moo
While I sit alone singing the blues
Wishing you were still here with us
But nothing was as valuable throughout
Fly to the moon and whatever’s there
Fun memories we shared still in our hearts
Like daisies and daffodils full of pollen
Why must we be so close yet so far apart?
Thinking of you till the snow has fallen

Lucky Charm – Mondays Finish the Story

Finish the story begins with: “She lived a life that some would describe as being on edge.”

She’s always loved swimming – in swimming pools, rivers, lakes or seas. She’s been down in every imaginable piece of diving gear known to man as well as a wide array of underwater submersibles and crafts. In one of these diving trips, she found a couple of old nickels and kept them as souvenirs. She put a hole in the coins and wore them as her necklace. With them around her neck, she did other extreme sports – skateboarding, mountain rock climbing, jet skiing and bungee jumping. Like the bulls in her coins, she’s always charging full on.

Having said that, she needed money to pay for all these extreme hobbies. She had some jewellery given to her by her mother and she went to the antique shop to have them valued. She got some money for them, then the man saw her necklace. He said that old coins would have fetched a considerable amount, but because she put a hole in them, now they don’t have any value.

Waiting Picture It & Write and Whirligig 31

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “All the Difficult Hours and Minutes” by Jane Hirshfield: rice, jar, calamity, calmness, glass, mutter, hours, plums, salted, minutes, wrinkled, difficult

She just finished cooking the rice
Salted the steak and onions that will go with it
Get the spices jar ready and the salt and pepper
Set the table, with candle sticks and wine glasses
The minutes were ticking as the hours passed
Will he ever come? She muttered to herself
She made this plum gown, designed and stitched
Hours and hours she spent making this dress
Quite difficult considering she did it by hand
There’s an air of calmness as she waits
She didn’t want any wrinkles on it
And so she waits….

In Search Of Penitence – Writing Prompt #131 “NoEnd House Part 9″ and Wordle 223

In this empty vessel
The end full of brambles
My body’s bleeding
My veins’ weeping
In search of penitence
Not the end of judgment
For things I’ve done
No facts, just cheap pun
And things I’ve omitted
I’d go back if I would
Hush, don’t say a word
I know I have erred
Don’t mention my name
It’s such a shame
Until I have paid for my sins
When I can raise high my chin
Corrected the wrong ones
Give hope to my sons
Walked the dusty long road
A steady support flowed
Swam the deep blue seas
And walk with ease
Made a big burning fire
People can admire
And turned the stone
New leaf on my own

B&P’s Shadorma & Beyond – The Lento, Revisited

A Lento consists of two quatrains with a fixed rhyme scheme of
abcb, defe;

All the FIRST words of each verse should rhyme.

There is no fixed syllable structure to the Lento, but keeping a good,
flowing rhythm is recommended.

Which witch prepares a spell?
Switch that man to a frog
Ditched her for that barmaid
Twitch of sting felt for that dog

Feeling at last the problem’s solved
Bring some justice to her fate
Zing was added to her lacklustre life
Chuckling to herself, she feels great

Hallow’s Eve
Or Allhalloween
All Saint’s Eve
Trick or Treat
Costume parties, bonfires, pranks
Light candles on graves
