Share Your World – 2016 Week 1

As a child, who was your favourite relative?
My Grandad “Tatay”on my mother’s side! He was a very intelligent man, always with a book on his hand. I remembered doing some crossword puzzles with him. And he always wrote the meanings of the words he didn’t know on the book with a pencil. I used to spend summer holidays with him and Granny “Nanay”. They called each other “Dear”, so sweet! Sadly, my Grandad died when I was 12 and I miss him so. Granny followed 6 months after him, perhaps from a broken heart.

If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?
A coconut tree! I can give you shade from the sun, give you the coconut to eat and drink its water, too.

What would be your preference, awake before dawn or awake before noon?
Awake before dawn, I’m a morning person and usually very active in the morning. I wait for the sunrise and sometime during the day, have a nap (after lunch).

Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?
A human size nest in a tree, then I can be the queen of the jungle! I’m claustrophobic so I can’t be underground.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
“La Boheme” is tomorrow and we’re looking forward to see/hear it. Him Indoors and I are going to have an early dinner somewhere posh, then go to the opera. I’m wearing my new red dress!
Next week is back to normal routine for us, I don’t really mind. I had a wonderful Christmas holidays. Here’s wishing you all a fun and prosperous new year!

Carpe Diem Special #187 Georgia’s 3rd, a haibun “idyllic spring”

153966880980826416AFwnUAD9c

Our first year anniversary. We were still students – starving students. We wanted to celebrate our first year, so we booked a cheap hovercraft holiday to Paris. I wasn’t good in travelling by hovercraft in the British Channel, got sea-sick. But we carried on, took the train and stayed in a cheap hotel. That was one spring in Paris. We lived on baguette, wine and cheese. We didn’t mind, it was wonderful. Every day, we walked along the River Seine and hand in hand, waited for the sunset. We loved going to the museums, especially the Musee d’Orsay for all the paintings of Monet, Manet, Renoir, like Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” We also spent a lot of time at the garden of Rodin. We sat and contemplated with “The Thinker.” And one sunny day, we climbed up the Eifel Tower – what a view! “We’ll always have Paris,” we promised.

Pasko! – B&P’s Shadorma & Beyond – Tanaga

Greetings from Paloma!

For this week I’d like us to return to the Tanaga for our inspiration.

The tanaga is a Filipino poem passed down through oral tradition. It consists of four lines with seven syllables each; the traditional rhyme scheme is AABB but modern tanagas may follow AABB, ABBB, ABAB, ABBA, AAAB, BAAA, ABCD rhyme patterns.

Ang Pasko ay sumapit
Mano po Ninong at Ninang
Pagmamahal sa mundo
Magdiwang tayong lahat

Christmas has finally come
Bless godfather and godmother
Love is for the whole world
Let’s all celebrate Christmas

Between the Shadow and the Soul

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “Philosophy in Warm Weather” by Jane Kenyon: sunny, clumsy, wasp, molecules, whirl, begrudge, spider, poppy, shouts, crow, alarm, pulling

collage-12

“I love you as certain dark things
Are to be loved in secret
Between the shadow and the soul”
From a poppy seed to certain flings
Nothing to whirl and have that strut
On both mind and body it takes its toll

I stand fending off the raven and crow
The candle with cinnamon and orange
Colourful buttons forming a heart
Pulling me with such alarming glow
Clumsy molecules but what a challenge
I shout in my heart that you’re also a part

Love soars from earth to infinity
For love of love, or heart’s solitude
Who cry for shadows and cannot tell
Begrudge I come with a plea
Never a sunny day for a feud
Tried to stifle the thoughts and quell

This is my Life

Daily Prompt – If you could read a book containing all that has happened and will ever happen in your life, would you? If you choose to read it, you must read it cover to cover.

Thanks for the great idea, Tom!

Yes, why not? and I’d read it from cover to cover. I love reading books, all sorts of books. They always give me a sense of adventure and I’m sure I’ll enjoy reading about my life.

“Life is a journey, not a destination”
We’re always on our way until it’s done
I sing this quote with delight
For we all have to fight our plight
For my life is designed to shine
We can combine ways to outshine
When I was first new to this world
I uncurled, twirled and whirled
My parents were joyful for they knew
I’ll go a long way to grew and flew
That I will win, no matter what
Always following my heart and gut
They gave me this secured shelter
My questions they always answer
Of course, love and compassion
Were always there as well as fun
They dedicated their lives on me
As I go in my life journey spree
And I in turn, dedicated mine to them
And from my heart and soul, this poem

– flashuser.net

I was born as the eldest daughter in a family
I looked after my siblings and they were three
My Mum taught me how to market
How to feed the family within a budget
That’s probably how I get the love of shopping spree

As a student I was diligent and ambitious
With fellow students sometimes we’re boisterous
With dedication, I’ve got my degree
Moved to Europe, I want to be free
Got some Masters on Linguistics and Business

Chemistry in motion, met Him Indoors in a lab
Action and reaction, fell in love and reached our sky lab
Being a wife was fun, I thought
Even though sometimes we fought
It’s quite exciting, who says being married was such a drab?

After seven years, HRH the son was born, I’m Mum at last
I nurture him, looked after him and didn’t mind being typecast
Eighteen years later, he left the nest
To university to find his own quest
His first day of school, karate, piano lessons and time flew so fast

I love being a Business English trainer to some companies
To sales people, human resources and some became my buddies
As a freelancer I can say yes or no to a contract
I don’t have a boss and I can’t be sacked
I can still have my free time, hobbies and meet my friends with ease

One more day to illuminate
Me on the priorities of life
I don’t want to be a dead weight
And I don’t want any strife

One more day to storm
The challenges and hindrances
I’m sure I could still perform
What’s all this fuzz?

One more day to pool
Resources for the common good
I don’t want to be cruel
With the frosty weather I withstood

One more day to create
Significant impact on you
I need you, I tell it straight
Before I say adieu

One more day to haunt
Me with the scenes of our lives
I have no wealth to flaunt
We’ll see each in our afterlives

One more day to need
One last kiss before I’m lifeless
My very last good deed
Before I spin the axis

One more day to pay
The price of my sins
There must be some way
To play the violins

She Used To Have Everything

handmade-christmas-decorations-green-holiday-decor-1

She was putting up the ornaments. Some of them they’d bought together back then. Most of the ones they purchased in that little shop in that little lane were long gone. So was he. The tree used to be bigger back then, but so was the house she shared with him and the kids. The kids… They would be here soon. Carefully she picked another ornament, making sure she wouldn’t drop it.

Please continue…

No, she wouldn’t drop anything anymore. She blinked and a tear fell from her right eye. She used to have a basket full of ripe fruit and vegetables, a nest full of eggs and birds, a house with a garden, a husband and two perfect kids – she used to have everything. She thought she had reached the stars but because she wasn’t clever, they were all taken out of her hand. One mistake, one passion for pump flesh, someone younger, who by the way, didn’t stay with her long – and she lost everything. How she wish she has another chance, to make amends. She has seen her errors and now she wants to go back to where she was.

Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille December 2nd 2015

494864785_51cd1d5b0f

A lovely afternoon and we are walking up the mountain. The wind brushes my hair, the scents of the flowers in the air and we can hear birds singing. A chill creeps into the air, but just a nip to let us know a new season is at hand.

all over the hill
the scent of blooming bluebell
blue wild hyacinth

blue wild hyacinth
as we walk up the mountain
swaying with the wind

swaying with the wind
soon the hill will be aflame
riot of gold and red

Our Pride and Joy

Barcelona 010

Time really goes so fast
We can still remember all the years
His first words that gave us cheers
The first time he crawls and walks
His first day of school with a big bag
Karate, music, choir, kung-fu, guitar
When we reminisce them they bring tears
From primary years to senior years
Lots of friends, loves Maths and Science
Learns to drive, happy to have his license
Activities in school, soon time to leave
To another country to have his degree
We surely miss him but we had to let him go
Happy we all are when he rang and said
She said yes and soon they be wed
Gave her a charming sapphire ring
Lovely in her hands so they go-ahead
